It’s a beautiful day

Trademark celebration after not such a trademark goal. But who cares?! We beat the red shite, and we beat them good.

The build up to the the match started on the last match day away at Birmingham. We won 2:0 there and I sad that it got the show on the road. I kept saying during the course of this season that all we needed was a victory to start the run we had in the second half of the last season. We started earlier this time around and we started just in time to beat the red shite.

I personally didn’t wan’t their points taken away or anything (even though I can’t stand them) simply because I wanted our team to show that we are better at the moment, and what was much more important it was a team performance that got us the win. Incredible pressure in the first 45 minutes was capped off by a sweet run by Coleman down the right, low cross in to the near post where Cahill launched the ball into the roof of Reina’s goal.

The story was a bit different in the second half, with the liverpudlians playing a bit better but Arteta’s screamer from the edge of the box stopped them dead in their tracks and sealed the victory. We could have gone and scored more, but a clean sheet again is as important as humiliating the shite. The man mostly responsible for the clean sheet, besides Howard who made several great saves was Distin who had a flawless game and is clearly my Man of the Match.

All in all, we’re off to celebrate up in 11th spot on the table and Liverpool is left to battle it out with West Ham and the Wolves for the last spot on the league table. COYB

And here are our scorers at the derby. Two great players, two great friends, two true Everton greats.
