My Latest Read

One-Shot-NovelI have had this book for a while now but never got to read it. Since I heard that the movie is going to be made I said to myself I’ll have to check it out, so I did. Anyway I will give my thought once I see the movie, until then here is one of the reviews published by the more eloquent book critics.

One Shot by Lee Child – review

‘I would recommend this book to mature readers in their teenage years or to adults’

I have started to read detective novels and one of my favourites was One Shot by Lee Child. In the beginning, the action starts off slowly and the plot thickens, concluding in six innocent victims being massacred on their way home from work.

After that point, the book has completely hypnotised you and there is no way that you can put it down. Nothing is what it appears and the action is fast paced and there are endless twists. The book leads you into thinking that one thing is the right answer – then to thinking that the other answer is the right one.

The main character is a man called Jack Reacher. He is an ex-military man who wanders throughout the U.S. because he was accustomed to being told where to go, when to go and what to do for every day of his life. He does seem to have strong moral sense but does appear to like hurting people and he has barely any mercy which is a reason I’m not his greatest ever fan, but if you are into very macho man type characters – he is your guy.

I would recommend this book to mature readers in their teenage years or to adults. I would definitely not recommend it to younger readers, mainly because it could be too complicated and also it does include some words which should not be shouted out in school, at home and most definitely, not at the library.

P.S. After I read the book and saw that the lead role will be Tom Cruise I laughed, but the author defended that decision, which in my eyes devalued his work, but then again, his book, his choices. In my opinion he should have gone for someone a bit taller.
