This morning I woke up pretty early with the first rays of Spring Sun shining down on me. With my wife sleeping next to me it would have been an idyllic setting if it wasn’t for the construction site just across the parking lot. It is not a small construction site either, it is a football stadium that’s being built. I love football, but right now, everything about it reminds me of the neighboring construction works. But there is that little thing called coffee that helps me, and my wife every morning. A cup of pleasure, peace and joy. Sharing it with the person you love makes it so much more enjoyable.

Here are some facts about coffee you might have or might have not known.

It all started with goats. Ethiopian shepherds first noticed the effects of caffeine when they saw their goats getting frisky and “dancing” after eating coffee berries.

It was originally eaten. African tribes combined coffee berries with fat to make edible energy balls.

The rise of Islam contributed greatly to the popularity of coffee. The religion prohibits alcohol, but coffee is a largely accepted drink.

All the coffee in the world grows in the Bean Belt (Area between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorns)

In 1675, the King of England banned coffee houses, claiming they were places where people met to conspire against him.

It is the second most traded commodity in the world.

A Belgian man by the name of George Washington, living in Guatemala invented instant coffee in 1906.
