Thunders

A distant rumble follows the flash in the sky

like the crackling of a whip in the hands of the most skilled

it strikes fear into the hearts of some

brings joy to the eyes of the others

you see it join the sky and the earth

then you hear the pain it caused

as if the anger of the skies culminates in one brief moment

as if the punishment comes in a flash

we sit, watching in amazement

horrified, waiting for the skies to crash
